As a non-confrontational way, commercial mediation is playing a crucial role in resolving international trade disputes and establishing harmonious trade and economic relationship. Therefore, the international society, governments and enterprises around the world have attached great importance to commercial mediation nowadays.
In order to discuss negotiation-style dispute resolution mechanism and to further improve the diversified dispute resolution mechanism for international trade and economic disputes under the “Belt and Road” initiative, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) successfully held two International Mediation Summits in 2016 and 2017, which generated positive reactions both in China and abroad. International Mediation Summit has already become an important forum for mediators, arbitrators, lawyers and other dispute solvers to communicate and to talk about future cooperation.
To further deepen global exchanges and cooperation in the area of mediation, CCPIT plans to hold International Mediation Summit 2018 (hereinafter referred to as the “Summit”). The Summit is planned to be held from September 11th to 13th, 2018 in the city of Changsha, Hunan Province. The Welcome Gala Dinner is scheduled on September 11th. The Summit is scheduled to be held on September 12th all day through midday September 13th, which will be co-hosted by CCPIT and the People’s Government of Hunan Province, jointly held by CCPIT Commercial Legal Service Center and CCPIT Hunan Sub-council, and supported by Supreme People’s Court of PRC, China Law Society, All China Lawyers Association, Department of Justice of Hong Kong SAR.
With the theme of “Probing into the negotiation-style dispute resolution mechanism under the international backdrop”, the Summit will have many topics for discussion, including “Implementing the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative, Preventing and Resolving the Trade & Investment Disputes”, “Establishing and Innovating Diversified Dispute Resolution Approaches”, “An Update on the Recognition and Execution of International Commercial Mediation Agreements by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law”, “Domestic and Overseas Practice of International Commercial Mediation and Case Studies”, “Lawyer’s Role in the Negotiation-style Dispute Resolution Mechanism”, etc.
Mediators, arbitrators, judges, legal scholars and experts, lawyers & other legal professionals, and corporate legal counsels from all countries are welcome to participate in the International Mediation Summit 2018.
