WTCA ATTENDS 2023 CCPIT SUMMIT IN BEIJING

May 25, 2023

On May 24, 2023, Mr. Luciano Montenegro de Menezes, WTCA Vice Chair-Secretary, attended the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) “Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit 2023” on behalf of WTCA Chairman John E. Drew and the WTCA Board of Directors. The event was hosted by CCPIT in Beijing, China and Mr. Menezes was joined by Mr. Scott Wang, WTCA Vice President, Asia Pacific.

With the theme of “Bolster Confidence in Building Together an Open World Economy Through Win-Win Cooperation,” the summit gathered business leaders from major international institutions, trade promotion agencies, business associations and companies, as well as renowned entrepreneurs and experts to engage in discussions on topics including innovation and development, digital economy, green and low-carbon development, and the greater roles and influences of trade promotion agencies in addressing global challenges and facilitating world economic development and recovery.

Mr. Menezes spoke on the panel “Pool the Strengths of Trade Promotion Agencies for Open Cooperation,” and cited the WTCA’s long-standing partnership with CCPIT, including the WTCA’s annual participation to co-host CCPIT’s “Chinese Listed Companies to Build the Belt and Road” International Cooperation Forums, as well as CCPIT’s ownership of nine WTC operations throughout China, which are owned or managed by local CCPIT branches. The partnership has delivered tremendous benefits to the Chinese and global business communities over the past 40 years. Mr. Menezes also proposed further cooperation on multilateral trade promotion, assistance to SMEs around the world, ESG-focused development, as well as tech-driven trade innovations.

“We were honored for a WTCA Board representative to attend this year’s summit and have the opportunity to discuss important subjects on international trade and investment with colleagues. The WTCA has had a long and highly-valued relationship with CCPIT since 1982. Together, the WTCA and CCPIT have worked diligently and cooperatively to promote the World Trade Center® concept in cities throughout China and enhance opportunities for international trade. We look forward to strengthening our partnership, and contributing to the open cooperation and development of China and the rest of the world,” said John E. Drew, WTCA Chair, Board of Directors.

During his trip, Mr. Menezes also visited CCPIT/WTC Beijing, CCPIT/WTC Tianjin and China WTC.
